Sue Payne
Sue is a born and raised Hamilton County girl. Attended Fishers and then Hamilton Southeastern High School and followed that with a college degree from Ball State with an art and elementary teaching degree. Sue and her mother also owned Colonial Treasures, where she designed custom furniture and finished it. Sue also has worked at Conner Prairie for decades where she was introduced to the old arts of spinning wool and flax, dyeing with natural colors and weaving. Sue has attended countless workshops, conferences both regional and international and taught these skills to literally hundreds of people. Sue currently heads up the Youth Spinning Program at Conner Prairie where she trains the youth volunteers to create a scarf from scratch and then compete in the Olympics of spinning and weaving at the Indiana State Fair Sheep to Shawl contest each August. Sue is also a Textile Specialist at Conner Prairie and serving in her second year as President of the Hamilton County Artists' Association.
