Artist Statement: I am a native of Indianapolis, living in Hamilton County for for over 8 years. My passion for photography began at age 11 with my first camera and continued to grow while taking photography classes at Herron School of Art. My first professional camera was the Pentax K1000 and I worked in black and white and learned how to develop my own photos in a dark room.
I reignited my passion for photography about 14 years ago, with a new digital camera, a Nikon D3100. With the new digital age I become very excited about being able to edit photographs digitally to replicate more how my eye sees a still life subject, or landscape. While I am still learning all the new creative options available and am excited to bring more creativity to my photographs, most of my photography involves very little image manipulation.
My goal is for people to see nature from a perspective in a way they may have not looked at it before, while feeling like they are actually standing in the place where I took the photograph. Usually my goal is to try to expose as much detail and textures in a scene so that one has an intimate experience with the subject and experience nature and life in all of its beauty.
I am interested in nature landscapes of all kind including beaches, flowers, forests and rural landscapes. Some of my recent work includes rustic and historic buildings and places like Charleston, South Carolina.
My photography includes trips I have taken to Charleston, and Mount Pleasant South Carolina, and Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach in North Carolina. I have also photographed coastal towns in southwest and northern Michigan. Locally I have photographed the dunes and various places in northern Indiana. I love to explore new places and am continually looking for nest inspiring destination.
My work has also been on display in the Stutz gallery, the Cool Creek Nature Center, the Indianapolis Arts Center and frequently at the Nickel Plate District gallery in downtown Noblesville, in addition to the Art Bank in downtown Indianapolis.
