Sweet Treats Art Studio: Art so sweet you’ll wish you could take a bite! Calling all dessert lovers and creative makers! This deliciously fun art class invites young artists to design, build, paint, and decorate their own treat-themed masterpieces — without a single sticky mess. From 3D confections to mouth-watering paintings, every project looks almost good enough to eat and offers tons of opportunities for personalization and imagination. This week's session is: Dessert Plate Painting Finally, artists set the stage for dessert with a larger-than-life place setting painting! From patterned plates to printed doilies and shiny cut-out utensils, each detail adds charm and whimsy. And of course — the spotlight is on the irresistible slice of cake or pie they choose to feature! By the end of the series, students will have explored painting, mixed media construction, texture creation, and 3D modeling — all while celebrating the joy of the sweet things in life. These projects make perfect keepsakes and are guaranteed to sprinkle creativity into every artist’s day! Date: Saturday, March 7, 2026 Time: 1:00 - 3:00 pm Age Requirements: Children (5-12) and Teens (13-17), no experience required Supplies provided. Artist Instructor Bio: Raka Kingsland is the Lead Art Teacher for Indianapolis Public Schools, where she teaches visual art to students in grades K–5. Certified to teach K–12, Raka has been inspiring young artists for over eight years. She earned her degree in Special Education and Art Education from Valparaiso University and is passionate about making art accessible and meaningful for all learners. Originally born in India and raised in Indiana, Raka brings a unique perspective to her classroom, weaving together culture, storytelling, and creativity. She believes art is not only a way for students to explore technique and expression but also a tool to build confidence, community, and a lifelong appreciation for creativity.
