Drawing with Structure

Description

Drawing with structure will teach the artist to take any object and break it down to its basic shapes. In this class, participants will be learning how to draw from structure, which is the building block of a drawing. The participants will be given a method to sketch and draw freehand. Structure was the method used by Burne Hogarth, the artist who set the standard for Marvel Comics and was also used by Walt Disney. Disney insisted that the illustrators who worked for him understood and used this method. Structure will give your sketches and drawings a 3-dimensional depth, while also telling you where to render and shade your artwork for a finished piece. Structure will also help with understanding of sculpture and painting, as drawing is the base of these two arts. God has instilled a passion within him that he has used every day of his life and that is to create art. His favorite medium is drawing with Prismacolor Pencils. Kevin attempted the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design on a full scholarship. As a college professor of graphic design, Kevin taught at International Business College in Indianapolis. This is a position he held for 25 years. He also taught drawing and airbrush at The Indianapolis Art Center for 12 years. One of Kevin’s accomplishments was the induction into the Indiana Artist Club in 2019. The Indiana Artist Club is the oldest artist organization in Indiana and was established in 1917 by such notables as T.C. Steele and Otto Stark. He was elected President in 2022 of this elite 126 member organization, and is currently serving his third term as president. “Art is not a way of living for me, but a way of life.
