Beginning Bookmaking

Description
In this workshop, you will learn how to use the basic tools of bookmaking, how to measure/tear paper, create colorful book covers using handmade papers, and assemble your books. Participants will create an accordion-style book and a pamphlet-style book to take home along with their own bookmaking kit. Anyone under the age of 16 should have an adult register to stay as well for the course. Supply List: Bookmaking kit included with class registration Date: Saturday, June 21, 2025 Time: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm Age Requirements: 14+ with beginner experience (Anyone under the age of 16 should have an adult register to stay as well for the course.) Artist Bio: Laura is primarily a water media artist who also enjoys working in relief printmaking, bookmaking, and a variety of drawing materials. She focused on fine art drawing and painting for her undergraduate degree at Ball State University and has a Masters Degree in Library Information Science from Indiana University. Laura is a juried artist member of HCAA, an artist member of the Watercolor Society of Indiana, and an associate artist member of the Hoosier Art Salon. Her hobbies outside of making art include reading, supporting libraries, enjoying nature, and volunteering as a Girl Scout leader. Cancellation within seven or more days' notice prior to the start date of the 1st class is 95% refunded (represents 5% transaction fee). Cancellation with two to six days' notice is 45% refunded (includes 5% transaction fee). Cancellation with less than 24 hours notice is 0% refunded but registration is transferrable.
