About

I’ve always been interested in learning both science and art. In college, I studied and completed my graduate degree in pharmacology and cancer biology, then began my career as a research scientist. The vibrant images I captured from live cells during my research were featured in textbooks and cancer research publications. As an artist, I strive to blend my background with my painting, seeking connections between these fields. This pursuit led me to take numerous art classes and workshops to expand my skills. My paintings have been featured in multiple juried exhibitions and selected as the best of the show.

In my abstract painting of nature, I prioritize light and color over precise detail. I utilize color to convey my emotions and moods, often using bold and unexpected palettes. My abstract painting engages viewers, encouraging them to interpret the work based on their feelings and experiences rather than a specific narrative. I use tools like palette knives, squeegees, brayers, and rarely brushes for my oil/cold wax painting to create different textures and effects. I selectively add many layers of paint, then dissolve, scrape, and eliminate portions of layers, simplifying forms into organic and inorganic shapes and creating a sense of landscape without recognizable elements.
