Growing up in the southern suburbs of Chicago, Sue Eckl has had a camera in her hand ever since she won a 35mm camera in an art contest when she was just 10 years old. After graduating from Northern Illinois University with a BFA in Visual Communication where she also studied photography, Sue moved to the northwestern suburbs where she worked professionally as a graphic designer.

Highly influenced by art history, composition, light and color study, Sue enjoys creating impressionistic, dreamy images through her “paintbrush” which is her camera.

Sue shoots outdoors as well as in her own photography studio, focusing her professional business on seniors, engaged couples, families, and corporate work.

Beginning in 2020, Sue embarked on a 15-piece fine art photography series entitled “Catharsis” where she explored the complexity of shared spiritual emotions as people are transformed through the impact and ramifications of unexpected tragedy.
