Looking back to about 4th grade, Jean remembers drawing Disney characters for hours as her favorite pastime. Her first private lessons were in high school. However, her love for art had to take a back seat to college, a teaching career, and raising a family. She did manage to work in a few art classes and workshops from time to time during that time period. Now in retirement, her interest in art is back in the forefront. Being part of the HCAA is a great inspiration and valuable experience. She enjoys the opportunities to paint, exhibit her work, and be around interesting and talented people. For Jean, painting lifts her spirits.
